Is it being over hyped? to some extent yes. Ajax isn’t your cure all for the really slow web experience users have come to see these days.

Many people go overboard with Ajax just ajaxifying their entire site. This causes immense confusion to the user whether a page has loaded or should they be waiting. what will happen with the back button. people have come up with solutions but they barely do the job. I feel Ajax should be used sparingly on where necessary. e.g. If I had a watch list of stock symbols. I would love to use Ajax to maybe see it update market prices dynamically. Or maybe to see an rss feed update itself as I click on links. But to see ajax on pages such as Backbase is just overdoing it. e.g. if you go to the Backbase website their entire site is almost ajaxified http://www.backbase.com. Not only is it super frustrating for me to click on a link then wait for it to load but most of the times it will end up crashing my browser.

I think Google is a prime example of how to use things in moderation but exactly where needed. Point in case Gmail. I do agree that they too have gone overboard to some extent by adding google chat and those stupid lil pop ups for email whenever u hover over an email. That is totally useless. what are the chances of users hovering over emails just to get email addresses. I have found to some extent that hovering is the least proffered way to elicit an action from the page. users would rather go and click.

Hope to do another write up on UI design pretty soon. stay tuned.

Rinspeed ZaZen Concept Car

I could keep staring into those eyes forever.

Mesothelioma casuse, help, support and lifestyle changes

Mesothelioma caused by asbestor exposure is probably one of the most dangerous diseases we know of here in the United States.
